Food in Thailand is like a religion. I am not kidding. The food here is phenomenally delicious, fresh, healthy and inexpensive.
So if you find yourself in Thailand you should do yourself a favor and take a cooking class. Make sure it includes a trip to the local market for ingredients. The market is an amazing treat in itself full of color, scents and the sounds of Thailand.
We had an amazing time at the Phuket Thai Cooking School in Kata with Chef VJ. We were picked up at out hotel and met Chef VJ at the Kata Market to get some background on the ingredients and the history of cooking in Thailand.
Then off to the school were we were provided aprons and a cooking station. We then made from scratch our own curry paste to use in our own custom selected meals. We were given some dietary options such as vegetarian, no nuts, no shellfish etc. This allowed for each and every participant to create there own personalized meal.
Then to the cooking…Pad Thai, Vegetarian or Chicken Green Curry, Red Curry, Massaman curry and Mango sticky Rice. All under the direction of Chef VJ and her helpers. It was so much fun and the food tasted as if it was heaven sent. Plus there was a lot of food. At the end of the class she sent us via email all of the recipes so you will be able to create these delights in your own home.
I highly recommend Chef VJ’s class. Here is the link to the cooking school’s website…. Phuket Thai Cooking by Chef VJ or you can book it on Viator.
