We went to the village of Vincennes today and to the Château de Vincennes and the Île de la Cité. This is considered one of the best examples of medieval castles in Europe. It was originally a royal hunting lodge built in about 1150 and then was rebuilt as a royal residence in the 1300’s. It is really cool and has had a very long and important history in France… And just a side note this is where state prisoners Diderot, the Comte de Mirabeau, Fouquet, Raspail and the Marquis de Sade were kept as prisoners.
